Wilder

The Wilder Hydroelectric Project (FERC License No. P-1892) is located on the Connecticut River in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and Hartford, Vermont.

  • 3,100-acre, 45-mile long reservoir at elevation 385.0 feet above sea level
  • 5 feet of useable storage managed seasonally
  • 41 megawatts of generation capacity with two General Electric generators with Kaplan waterwheels and one S.A. generator with a Francis waterwheel
  • The Wilder Project is currently undergoing relicensing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. More information about that process can be found here.

Available Recreation Activities

Several picnic areas, a concrete boat ramp, and other recreation facilities are located near the dam and station, along with a paddler’s campsite that is part of the Connecticut River Paddlers Trail located a short distance upstream. Great River Hydro’s recreation facilities are open to the public on a day-use basis only, from one half-hour before sunrise to one half-hour after sunset.  Please click here for a complete list of rules.
